Virginia Housing CEO Talks Housing with Sen. Mark Warner
September 24, 2025Virginia Housing CEO Tammy Neale recently joined Virginia Sen. Mark Warner and a collection of housing experts to participate in the Keys to Housing Affordability Summit. Hosted in Richmond by Sen. Warner in partnership with the Virginia Association of Counties, the Virginia Housing Alliance and Henrico County, the one-day event convened local leaders, nonprofits, business groups, developers, advocacy groups and others to discuss affordable housing challenges and how to tackle them.
The summit included panels on topics such as nonprofit efforts to address housing challenges, housing market data and forecasts, and local initiatives happening around the state and their impact in places like Fairfax and Henrico counties and the town of Marion.
To close out the day, Neale joined Sen. Warner on stage for a discussion that dove into how housing affordability has moved from a niche issue to one of Virginians’ central concerns. The fireside chat included a deep look at the role housing plays in local economies across the state, from major population centers like Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads to rural communities and opportunities for federal, state and local partners to coordinate as they work to make progress.
Conversations like those had at the Keys to Housing Affordability Summit are an important part of making headway toward bringing more safe, affordable housing to all corners of Virginia. Virginia Housing looks forward to continuing to partner with the many organizations that are dedicated to fulfilling this mission.
